I’m really impressed with Omnivore app (thanks @amerpie). I’ve got it linked up to an ancient Obsidian vault I resurrected, updated the template, and it’s working great. It even synced a highlight on an OCRd PDF I uploaded to it. 🙂‍↕️

As usual. “Turn it off and on again” was solid advice.

This is the part that bothers me with switching to a new device. The nagging question: “Did everything really get copied over successfully?”

Aargh. Can I please just push that “Erase iPad” button, and stop manually looking for missing data?

I’m prepping my old iPad before I wipe it for my Mum to use, and I’m just checking it over. I currently have it connected wirelessly to my Mac at the same time as my new iPad.

My Mac cursor is passing between each of the three screens almost seamlessly. It’s amazing! What’s more amazing is my old iPad is doing it over bluetooth only. So cool.

I’m almost reluctant to pass it on. iPads are just so useful as secondary (or more) displays, whether Sidecar or native iPad OS. But my Mum will love it and needs an update.

DuckDuckGo is down?

So weird that a search engine going down can interrupt my workflow.

Because it’s the default search engine on all my devices, I keep unexpectedly trying to use DDG to search for Google 🤪

The Photos page plug-in for Micro.blog was just updated by @kottkrig at my request.

The update means I can now also adjust the number of columns of photos on my /photos page. The plug-in already allows for filtering by category, and the ability to show all photos in a post.

I’ve been using SiftRSS for the last few days. It’s so useful! I was subscribed to a particular YouTube channel that publishes a lot of Shorts. I’ve now unsubscribed and instead use SiftRSS to filter out those posts that contain #shorts in the title.

I’m giving Superlist a go, from the makers of Wunderlist (RIP). I like using Apple Reminders for daily stuff. But I need something to help me manage projects which I currently use Things for but struggle with it a bit.

Maybe Superlist is it.

I had a genius moment the other day when I realised I could use Lightroom to help me manage my art website studio.aeryn.art.

I’ve just spent a few more hours tinkering and testing.

Main LR catalog → export photos to → Blot LR catalog (Dropbox+Blot) → Selectively rename files to create Blot Tags

Thankfully, I think I’ve resolved my Backblaze Safety Freeze from the other day, although I still don’t know why it happened in the first place. But might be this..

One of my external drives had become disconnected from the backup for some reason, even though I was connecting it regularly.

I think I’ll have to email Backblaze about the Safety Freeze event yesterday. I have successfully reinstalled and the backup is running ok again. But it’s reporting about 500 GB less data in the backup than there should be.

I’ve checked my Carbon Copy Cloner logs for the last few days and I haven’t lost 500 GB locally.

I think I remember last year it did something like this. And then sometime later, the Backup size jumped back to the ~4TB I was expecting.

So I’m putting it down to some kind of error in Backblaze. Which I will try to report.

I have another Backblaze Safety Freeze1. I don’t believe I have any cause for concern but the problem with this safety feature is there is no information given on the cause of the Safety Freeze being inacted. Not even the time it happened. I just know something happened since 5am.

Resolving and restarting the back up requires manual verification/comparison of data between my local machine and the online backup. This is completely unrealistic, being that the web interface for browsing files in the online backup is extremely basic. And then I have to uninstall and reinstall the service

Please Backblaze2, give me some logs to look at, or something helpful. I do love the service but this is a bit of a headache and a faff, with uninstalling/reinstalling. This feature needs to give me more data to work with. I’m basically having to make a guess that this is a false positive.

Apple sent me a survey about my Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen).

The Siri Remote is very frustrating at times. It’s so easy to brush the touchpad when trying to click and select something and accidentally select something else. Scrolling with touch swipe is very imprecise. It’s ergonomically uncomfortable with harsh edges and hard buttons. It’s the worst Apple device I’ve ever used.

I stopped using this fun productivity app years ago when development was abandoned. Clear was an OG iOS app widely praised for it’s intuitive design and pleasing aesthetic. And finally, it’s back! Now called Clear Lists..

Something has gone seriously wrong with iOS shortcuts on my phone since iOS 17. Have been unable to use some of my shortcuts since, and in trying to resolve today have lost them all. I’m sure they’re still there somewhere in my account, but 😩😩😩
