Moving my personal blog and a new RSS feed URL (goodbye and thanks Micro.blog)

Hey :)

This is just a quick update on this post- RSS feed changes

I’m moving from Micro.blog to a new platform.

  • I am going to be moving to a new blogging platform this weekend (for my personal blog). Maybe tonight. It just depends how things go.
  • The aeryn.me domain will be moved to the new platform too.
  • The new feed URL will be at https://aeryn.me/feed/.
  • If you wish to continue to follow this blog in your feed reader, you will need to add it again because I am unable to add feed redirects on the new platform.
  • My Micro.blog-hosted site will remain live for some more months whilst I continue migrating posts. But will eventually disappear, I expect.
  • I do not intend to delete my account (I want to preserve timeline posts) but will let it lapse back to a free account.
  • I will most likely not be posting to Micro.blog anymore. 🤷‍♀️
  • I am now microblogging on Mastodon and still adding Micro.blog folks there gradually. I love that I can continue to follow, although there does feel like some distance now, which is a shame.
  • I cross-post from Mastodon to Bluesky too.

Lastly, although I will potentially write about Micro.blog again in the future, I just want to say thank you to Manton, support people, and the community. Thanks for making me feel welcome and being generally a friendly, supportive, and wholesome place.

Bye and see you around

Aeryn x

Edit to add: I think I may have figured out a RSS redirect at the new place. Not sure.

RSS feed changes

Hey,

I am migrating this blog (aeryn.me) to a new platform soon. And all existing RSS feeds will break.

I have set up a feed redirect on the current platform. If you would like to continue to follow my blog, please subscribe this new URL.

The new feed URL will be: https://aeryn.me/feed/

This URL will be the Atom feed address on the new platform, and should be a valid redirect until I complete the move. But I’m not sure all RSS feed clients will happily ‘subscribe’ to a redirect, or not.

So, if you subscribe and you don’t hear anything within a couple of weeks, please check my blog again. I’ll be posting RSS/Atom feed options on the new platform once I’ve moved over.

Looking up at some tall fluffy plants blowing in the wind against a cloudy sky. A plane flies past in the background.

Just took the camera for a walk. It was sunny at first and then it got gloomy. Good for shooting around the back streets where I live.

I’ve stopped for a coffee for warmth and just pulled this off my camera. I like it! Good timing with the plane. No idea what these plants are tho. 📷 ✈️

That’s all of them. Yay! The whole set can be seen via the above link, or on Glass.

Updating categories on aeryn.me - RSS feed updates

Just a heads up for anyone following this blog by RSS. I’m updating and changing, deleting, and re-organising categories on this blog. Which will affect Category RSS feeds. These may break. I’ve already put in some redirects but maybe I missed, or messed some up. Or will do, as this will be ongoing for a little while.

The only feed that is definitely safe is the main site feed, here:

Alfian canal boat on the Macclesfield Canal. A rusty old canal narrowboat painted blue and red floats on rippled water, underneath yellow and green autumnal trees. The canal water reflects the blue sky which has wispy white clouds. In the foreground of the photo are reeds. The photo is saturated in colour.

Hey, I’m back on Glass. I took a year out to find myself :PI like this. I took a walk along the canal a couple of evenings ago and it, well, wow. It was gorgeous..Alfian canal boat on the Macclesfield Canal, High Lane. 11 November 2023. By Aeryn

A photo of a green field in low light. Trees line the field on either side, and the near horizon. The sky is muted and dark blue. In the centre of the photo is the orange after-glow of the sunset.

After sundown in the park.

A buzzard perched in a tree, with blue sky behind.

I got really lucky last night in the park. A buzzard was perched up in a tree above the path. Shot on iPhone in RAW and I’m impressed with the quality.

Looking down an empty street with white lines painted. On the right, green leafy trees behind a low red brick wall. On the left, red brick buildings, one flying the Union Jack flag.

I took a little early walk the other day and it was nice to see it so quiet.

Three goslings shown close up, foraging.

I took a bit of a risk with this. I could see the Canada Geese pair working their way along the edge of the pond with their goslings. So I sat on the ground waiting for them to come to me. And they did! They got close enough to touch. And their parents were surprisingly very relaxed in my presence. I shot a bunch of photos. It was a lot of fun and I felt pretty amazed how cool the geese were with me, because usually they’re very defensive and aggressive.

This is from last year in my local park. There are no goslings here this year.

My mental health has been a massive challenge for me this year. I was hoping to upload to Glass more regularly. I’ve been meaning to upload this for the Wildlife theme. I am quite happy with the way this photo turned out and that I actually uploaded it.

A waterfall in a woodland. But there is only a trickle of water.

My local waterfall. I decided for Glass Photo to upload only my best shots. Like a portfolio kinda thing. Not saying this is amazing but I like it a lot, and that’s what counts. There are other places I can sling everything at the wall and see what s
